Annual CBR Review and Orientation Workshop
The annual regional progress review of government supported Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program for the year 2010 (2067) was completed in three region; far west, mid west and western region. These workshops were jointly organized by Resource Centre for Rehabilitation and Development (RCRD) and Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare (MoWCSW) in Dadeldhura (for far west) Nepalgunj (for mid west region) and Pokhara (for western region) on April 20-21, 23 – 24 and 27-28, 2011 respectively. Around 40 representatives of CBR running NGOs and 40 representatives from Women and Children office (this is government focal agency to look after disability issues in district) from the forty districts of these regions participated in the workshops. The participants shared their annual progress about CBR programs and situation of disability household mapping. An intensive discussion about local problems, challenges and opportunities was also held during the workshop. The authorities of Ministry presented in the workshop expressed their commitment to address the problems.
The MoWCSW has been providing Rs. 150000 to one disability related NGOs of each district through Women and Children office to implement CBR program for the people with disabilities. This amount is mobilized by local NGOs including the local resources received from district development committees, village development committees and INGOs working in district.
On behalf of MoWCSW Mr. Surya Prasad Shrestha, (Chief of Social Security Section) Mr. Rabindra Acharya (section officer of social security section), Ms. Abhilasha Bhatta (Office assistant of social security section) were present to facilitate the workshop. Similarly Mr. Suryabhakta Prajapati, (director) and Mr. Manish Prasai (information and advocacy coordinator) were present on behalf of RCRD-Nepal.
